More Trixie WIP by OtakuSquirrel More Trixie WIP by OtakuSquirrel
In the next couple days I'm going to be buying the paints I want so I can finish up a Trixie... or ten...

But, I haven't yet seen my resin kit on her... so I grabbed a couple pieces that were just laying around (they were sub-standard kits that are repairable) and decided to check the old girl out and get a better idea of how Trixie is going to look!

Yay! =D

I was buying the ponies in bulk whenever they went on sales.  For some, I was getting them for about $3 a pony, for the Trixies, I had to import them from China to get them before their proper release over here- so they were a bit more expensive.  Hasbrotoyshop started capping the number of a particular pony one could buy at any one time because of me: Ordered 20 Rarities when they were on a buy-one-get-one sale one time!  LOL!

Say, what do you do to fix the spots that show where the hair cut off?

I try to sculpt the manes so that they're pretty much covered up-- but some sculpts like Rarity and Trixie cut it really close, and the hair-plug machine doesn't always get the hair in the same spots... I've seen a couple unicorns with hair plugged into their horns, which I really can't cover up that well... In those cases, you basically can try to fill it in discreetly with a filler and try to cover it with a proper colored paint... but if people look, it'll still show a bit.

Ah...
So what can one use to patch such plugs?
I'd like to know for whenever I get a kit from you.

I've only done it once-- so not sure what works best. I just used a little dab of hobby putty and then dabbed it with some white paint afterwards.

Ok.
So I take that your kits will pretty much cover the plugs.
Yes?

Yes indeed. Rarity has the most problems covering because of her fancy hair and hairline. Trixie might show a spot depending on how far forward her hair plugs went-- but pretty much all the rest cover up.

$12. $13 at EverfreeNW because of tax.

do you offer kits that have been sanded down and are ready for paint?

Nope. Prep takes the most time and effort. If I'm going in that far, I'm finishing them.

oh in that case how much would a finished trixie be? or just a finished mane and tail?

Her kit is going to be $12 (or $13 at EverfreeNW cause of the tax)... For a finished Trixie, it's not quite set yet. I tend to set prices on how much time I have to sink into a pony... and what sort of material expenses go into her. (i.e. an alt-pose pony would normally cost more because they normally come in playsets, etc..)
