I am sooooo running out of time here...

Sleepy Skies's sculpt is finished... I went with the older shorter tail- Cat knows this- it was done for logistical reasons, mainly because I was referencing an older picture of her when I started it, and my quick attempt to do the longer tail broke and was swept away to places unknown by kitty-cats.

Snowdrop's tail is finished... and her mane is making good headway. Primarily, I need to do clean-up on her forelocks and actually sculpt the knot on the back of her mane- the rest is good.

And yeah, I've got one week (holy $&%*#%$&!!!) to finish about 30 ponies... You can see all of Fluttershy and Rarity are in primer-- I'm going to start getting them in paint tonight. After them, it's just AJ and the two special ponies up above-- and yes, I'm about 100% certain I'll be painting their cutie marks at the con- cause that's how far behind I am!

The manes and tails on the sticks are resin copies of my original sculpts- they've been hit with primer to get them ready for painting.
The sculpts on Sleepy and Snowdrop are clay prototypes that I was working on at the time.

Hi i have a question, how do you make the resin copies? :3

I use a silicone rubber to make molds for the pieces I sculpt... Once those are made, I just mix up some resin, inject it, and wait for it to solidify. This makes it sound pretty easy- it's not very easy, but I've gotten a lot of practice at this point, so it's not nearly as hard as it used to be. ;)

If you go into my gallery, I've got a whole folder of pictures related to the molds and resin work stuff...

Hmm. Is silicone rubber sturdy?

It lasts for 30 to 40 castings... then it's pretty much worn out. Less if it's a complicated piece, more if it's pretty basic.

ok! right now i seem to have lots of difficulty making Twilight Sparkle's tail mold a 3D sculpt.

Yup- getting the 3D aspect of this is the tricky part. Don't give up, it just takes some practice to get the hang of it. =)
